Epi Quizon plays half-man, half-goat in 'Dyosa'

Talented actor Jeffrey "Epi" Quizon is portraying a rare and special role that will once again prove his versatility as an actor.

Quizon will portray the character of 'Bakos', half-man and half-goat, for the newest television series on ABS-CBN's Primete Bida entitled "Dyosa".

In Greek mythology this being is called satyr -- half human and half beast. Satyrs usually have a goat's tail, flanks and hooves. While the upper part of the body is that of a human, satyrs also have the horns of a goat.

"I really enjoy my character. I play around with it." Quizon said in an interview on the set of "Dyosa."

Quizon's character will play a very special role in Dyosa's life.

"Ako ang kingdom’s jester o parang host ng palasyo," he said.

As the jester of a mystical kingdom, Bakos holds the key to Dyosa's real identity.

On the 18th birthday of Josephine, played by actress Anne Curtis, Bakos will reveal that Josephine is actually a 'Dyosa' or a goddess.

Dyosa is a descendant of Mariang Sinukuan and Bernardo Carpio. She is destined to rule the world of the upper gods.

Hard time with prosthetics

As in other fantasy shows, the burden of wearing prosthetics is one of the hardest things to deal with.

Quizon said that playing a satyr is not a joke since it takes them almost two hours to put on the necessary prosthetics.

The actor said that the first time they tried to put on the prosthetics, the makeup artists took three and half hours to finish.

He added that he has a hard time moving around because of the prosthetics, particularly the goat's horns.

"Mahirap na may suot na ganito, pero kapag may taping hindi ko nararamdaman. Kaya I have to bring playing cards or I have to keep myself active para di ko maisip na may suot akong ganito," Quizon said.

Quizon is the son of "King of Comedy" Dolphy. As an actor he already received numerous awards and citations from prestigious award-giving bodies such as Star Awards, Gawad Urian Awards, Metro Manila Film Festival, People’s Choice Awards and the Brussels International Film Festival for his role in the movie "Markova."
